Cold Casting with Bronze Powder and Resin Saturday, March 2 $75 Debbi Simon 9:00 - 12:00
Student Level: All levels welcome
Type of Workshop: Process and Project
|
Students will learn about making molds for casting, while learning the basics of cold casting with bronze powder and resin. Much like metal clay, the bronze, in powder state, is added to a binder. In cold casting the binder is resin. Although the casted piece will not be sintered by a kiln, the resin becomes its binder and the final piece looks and feels much like traditional metal. In addition, students will learn how to add found objects and color that wouldn’t be able to be used at high temps. Students will also learn all finishing techniques.
Kit Fee of $20 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
- Two-part mold material
- Two-part resin and bronze powder for use in class
- A variety of elements, colors, additives and other tools and supplies
- All tools and misc supplies needed in class including access to my collection of found objects to mold
Students should bring:
- Baby Wipes
- Paper towels
- Some type of non-stick surface
- Roll of regular tape
- Scissors
- Badger balm
Optional:
- Fun things to mold and a variety of elements you would like to work with or add to your pieces
