What do you have in common with pirate Jack Sparrow and domestic diva Martha Stewart? Pearls, beads, pretty buttons – odds and ends, leftovers collecting in a box or bowl.
Bring your treasures and play with color, texture and design. We will use two silk strands, running through and around beads for added interest. Students will make S clasps, 8-links, extension chains, bead dangles and wire wrap a focal bead. Make a bracelet, or a necklace that will double as a bracelet – the perfect accessory for travel. Knotted beads have fluidity, a great technique to use within larger projects.
Supply list:
- pliers: round nose, chain nose (2), flat nose
- flush cutter, side cutter
- chasing hammer
- rawhide or plastic mallet
- bench block and pad (or towel)
- tape measure
- emery board 180
- crimper
- bead board (or hand towel)
- 5” of 16g silver (dead soft or half hard) or copper
- 5” of 20g silver (dead soft or half hard) or copper
- 1 ft of 24g silver (dead soft or half hard) or copper
- 2 cards of Griffin Natural Silk, one No. 2, one No.4 in color of your choice
- beads (enough for bracelet or necklace)
