Wrapped In Silk Bangle
Friday $135 Deryn Mentock 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Student Level: All welcome
Type of Workshop: Project oriented class
Silk is such a versatile, tactile material and the contrast of soft silk on metal makes for some beautiful jewelry. In this class you’ll create a gorgeous, layered, silk wrapped bangle bracelet. We’ll form, wrap, forge and texture, then take things a step further as I show how to create a multitude of dangles for embellishment. We’ll be using a torch, in a very non-intimidating way, to create some of the dangles and strong but beautiful, handmade clasp that you’ll want to use in your jewelry over and over. Bring a favorite found object or vintage buckle and I’ll demonstrate how to incorporate it as a focal. Warning: these bangles are addicting to make!
Instructor will provide: Butane, Silk, Paper towels and for use in class: Hand drill, Vise, Steel wool, Torches, Dremel and drill bits
