Rhinestones and Rosaries

Thursday $135
Diane Cook 9:00 am to 4:30 pm

Student Level: Beginner and Intermediate
Type of Workshop: Process and Project

In my newest line of jewelry, Rhinestones & Rosaries, I have paired two of my favorite elements - vintage rhinestones along with vintage rosaries. I began over a year ago using more and more vintage rhinestone ear bobs in my designs. Putting the two together came easily, as I soon found out that the beauty of a vintage beaded rosary chain works especially well with the timeless beauty of vintage rhinestones. Adding it to gorgeous brass filigree is reminiscent of the beautiful jewelry made by one of my favorite designers, Miriam Haskell.

I will share my technique for attaching a vintage ear bob to filigree. Then, using your rosary as a base, we will begin to layer your necklace, adding various chains, beads, charms, ribbon, or whatever you fancy. I will share a couple of favorite connecting links, including wrapped and stacked rondells, and lastly, we will end with a simple classic clasp.

The elements you decide to incorporate into your necklace is ultimately up to you, but do bring your finest, because the necklace you take home will definitely be fit for a queen.
