Have you ever admired Cloisonné? Now is your chance to make your very own. In this class you will learn how to shape and form cloisonné wire into separate area for your enamel colors to create a beautiful design. Students will also learn how to sift the enamels and fire their piece with a hot head torch. I will show you how to finish your piece by sanding and grinding he enamels flush with the wires using an alundum stone. We will then follow up with final sanding using polishing papers for a matt finish or fire polish for a glossier finish. So come join me for a fun day of creating “French” ribbons of color.

Instructor will provide the following supplies: Torch, Enamel powders, Eutectic silver solder

Supply/Tool List:

  • 20 gauge copper sheet (at least 4” x 4”) to cut your own shapes or pre cut Copper shape disks 2”size
  • 14 gauge copper wire for jump rings
  • Line sifters LS-16 (1/16”), LS-32 (1/32”) there will be a couple at the class but not enough for everyone to use. $14.25
  • Copper cloisonné wire (M-4F)
  • Alundum Stone (B-6-150 grit, B-7-220 grit)
  • Flat and round nose pliers
  • Files, fine sandpaper, sanding block or Scotch- brite type pad for cleaning and polishing
  • Bench pin
  • Jeweler’s saw and blades (#00 and #1)
  • #1, #5 Round brush
  • Ruler
  • Dust Mask
  • Safety Glasses
  • Polishing paper or pads
  • Tweezers
  • Color pencils and paper for designing you piece
  • Rubber block
  • A container large enough for you to sand and grind your piece in and have it covered with some water
