The focus of this project class will be on jewelry fabrication techniques that will transfer to projects of your own. The techniques covered will include riveting, prong fasteners, staples, sawing, shaping, wire hardening, chain making and clasp construction, soldering, metal etching, distressing and patination. You will use these techniques to complete a pendant similar to those shown in the sample photos. You will be encouraged to add your touches and embellishments to make the piece truly your own.
Materials fee of $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes: the nickel silver, etching solution, patina, Faux Bone ™, and the skulls & wings.
Materials List:
1 or more Small Tin Jar/Bottle lid…like from a Snapple Bottle, etc approx. 2 inches in diameter. Crush the lid, burn it with a torch and let it rust…or otherwise alter it to make it just a little grungy.Tool List:
Students should bring the following tools to class:
Flat and round nose pliers,
Metal shears or tin snips
Wire cutters (inexpensive hardware store variety are fine)
Files, fine sandpaper, sanding block or Scotch-brite type pad for cleaning and polishing Faux Bone™

Jeweler’s saw and blades (sizes #00 and #1)
