Shape, Texture, Color, Smash, (Create Your own Found Objects)

Thursday 6:30 - 9:30 PM $115
  Sabra Sowell-Lovejoy and Saturday 6:30 - 9:30 PM

Student Level: Beginner, Intermediate
Type of Workshop: Process

This is a 6 hour workshop taught over 2 evenings.

I have always loved old painted rusty objects crushed tin cans and wrecked cars.  The brilliant painted colors juxtaposed against the history of decay is spectacular!  I spent the last five years working on producing my own found objects using copper, sterling and brass.  I am happy to say that I have finally developed a way to make unpretentious colorful metal forms that appear to have developed their own character over a long period of time.
I would like to share these procedures with anyone who willing to purposefully learn to disrespect metal and break all the metalsmithing rules.  This hands-on workshop will teach you many techniques such as forming, chasing, texturing, patina, prisma color, enamel, punching and smashing.

Students will take home eight different metal “things” that exemplify the techniques taught in class.  The objects will be ready to hang as charms or to rivet to other metal forms.
