This class features the use of polymer clays to create convincing ivory surfaces with an antique quality. Students will learn molding concepts to create both flexible and rigid forms, use of release agents, and how to work with decorative polymer veneers to create molded faces. The use of acrylic paint as an antiquing/patina medium will be included. Fine silver metal clay will be used to create a framework for the showcasing of the faux ivory face. Hand finishing technique will be covered. The concept of how to make a hidden suspension method will also be included

Kit Fee of $28 includes Metal/polymer clays, findings, and molding material, treated polishing cloth.

Supplies Provided by Instructor: face forms for creating one or more molds with, antiquing pigment, adhesive, torches, firing stations, patina for silver, cutters, crystals for embellishment (may differ from those pictured), release agent, and textures to work with.

Acrylic roller
6” x 6” (or slightly larger) smooth ceramic bathroom tile
clay blade,
baby wipes,
X-acto type knife
emery board or small jeweler’s file
playing card or metal clay spacers
non-stick Teflon craft mat
