Filigree/Floral Fusion

Saturday 9:00 - 4:30 $125
  Lynne Ann Schwarzenberg

Student Level: Intermediate or Advanced
Type of Workshop: Process and Project

The simplicity of leaves and petals and classic beauty of turn of the century style filigree come together in a beautiful piece that can be worn as either a pendant or a pin. Students will learn to create subtle gradient blends with polymer clay, turn them into a petal and a leaf cane, and then build a pendant using neo-classic filigree pieces from Kabela Design and finish the piece with a Swarovski Rivoli crystal and a finding that combines a bail and a pinback, making it wearable either way. Lynne Ann will cover cane design and construction, slicing evenly, the best way to create a metal and clay fusion piece using special adhesive material, finishing without sanding (as it is nearly impossible to sand a dimensional piece), and metal to clay and crystal to clay fusion. This class will also concentrate on showing students how to use pre-fabricated objects to guide their jewelry design and choose the correct adhesives to make a quality piece of jewelry that will not fall apart.

Students will complete a filigree and floral or leaf cane pendant in class, but will also have canes left over to work with on future projects.
