Saturday 9:00 - 4:30 $135
  Sherri Haab

Student Level: All
Type of Workshop:
Process and Project

Discover a quick, non-hazardous copper etching technique to make your own texture plates.  Work with a new technique designed to eliminate the hazardous chemicals typically required for copper etching and the process is incredibly fast and easy.  The plates will then be used to apply incredibly detailed patterns to bronze metal clay. As a bonus, students will learn all about the new bronze metal clay. *Bronze clay requires an overnight firing; you must be present the following day to pick up your bronze charms.
Additional information about this workshop:  This class introduces a green method of electrical etching using an electronic controller that is not included in the class kit.  Each student will be provided use of a controller to complete the project in class, and the unit will be available for purchase after class if the student desires. However,  ALL of the techniques and projects shown in class can be completed at home using Ferric Chloride which is the hazardous chemical typically used for etching.  Both methods are described thoroughly in class and students will leave with full knowledge of how to etch using both methods.
Students will learn a new process and will complete a jewelry piece.
