Earring Mayhem
Saturday Evening $65 Cynthia Anderson 6:30 - 9:30 Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project oriented
Students should leave class with many pair of earrings. They will also learn many valuable techniques; wire wrapping, making connections, attaching odd elements, easy drilling of elements to attach. Especially great for beginners, those unhappy with the looks of their current wire wrapping, and those searching for ideas a bit out of the main stream. Nothing heavy duty, so don’t be afraid to jump on in!
In this class students will learn a myriad of techniques for fun and easy earring making. First, we’ll make resin button earrings. No messy resin pouring will be required though! We will use pre-made resin pebbles and epoxy buttons to which we will add tiny ribbons and beaded dangles….and with the clear pebbles you will be able to use whatever funky cool papers you find to make into fashionable ear bobs! I’ll show you the cheap and easy way to make holes in these and many other objects/ephemera for jump ring connections…no dremel required. Second, we will take grungy type items (watch faces, nuts, watch innards, bus tokens, pen nibs, whatever we can think of!) and mix them with graceful items (like pearls and rhinestones.) I think the idea of “grunge meets grace” is pretty cool. We will expound upon this idea. Third, you’ll learn how to make what I call “cascade earrings.” They are the blue ones with all the dangle charms attached. Finally, I will have a variety of nifty earrings there to give you additional great ideas…button stacks w/ ribbons, those with metal mesh charms and vintage jewels/charms and much, much more. I hope you’ll join us for a fun, stress-free evening!
