This ring has it all, Yin & Yang. Opposite yet complimentary: texture/smooth, angles/curves, high/low, light/dark, gold/silver, soft /hard.

Using sterling for its best attributes, and Argentium for its best, you'll learn reticulation and depletion gilding, fusing and granulation. For those who wish, we will add 18k gold for luscious color on one and Patinate to bring out all those contrasting elements.

Qualified Assistant Renee Garver will be onboard to help guide you.

Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):

  • Approx $95.00*: This include all the materials to make 2 rings, one with 18K gold granulation and one with silver granulation, both with Sterling for reticulation and Argentium silver for fusing
  • $ change may be necessary due to fluctuation of price of Gold & Silver.

Instructor Provided (for use in-class, and to share):

  • anvils/ bench blocks
  • torches / fuel
  • solder/ flux
  • vises / clamps
  • pliers
  • hammers / mallets
  • ring mandrels
  • patina
  • scratch brush
  • pickle, copper tongs
  • steel wool

Student should bring:

  • 6" hand-file Half-round or inside ring recommended #2 cut or close
  • side-cutter pliers
  • sanding sticks
  • newish flat charcoal block or soft soderite board approx 3"x3"

Suggested:

  • Ring mandrel
  • bending pliers
  • your favorite non-mar mallet
  • pointy tweezers (to arrange granules)
  • Your usual hand tools are always an asset: small bench block, Saw, blades, files, rulers, pliers, cutters, shears, as well as eye protection and magnification.
