This fun techniques based workshop highlights the various ways gesso can be used in mixed media. Gesso is more than a ground. It can be used as a resist, a dreamy wash, can be tinted to achieve vintage or other colors and of course, used as a block out. Effects may also be achieved such as impasto, textural building, sgraffito and incising. Students create samples of techniques that will fit into a small booklet for their future reference.
