Prerequisite: None, great for all students. The loose and expressive process is perfect for helping new painters overcome challenges when painting representational work, and for the advanced student with problems painting loose or leaving out info for beauty.

Get loose and try something new by combining acrylics and Prisma color pencils on a gessoed panel! Work from a real still life and learn how to create bright vibrant strokes and marks with more confidence. Kellie will work through the layering process with simple instruction and a limited color palette for a fun and quick lesson. These techniques will celebrate the way acrylics work and can be used in layering with any subject matter.

Kit/Materials Fee (payable to instructor at class time):

  • $15
  • Shared use of professional grade acrylic paints (Atelier Interactive Acrylics)
  • a 10" x 10" gessoed (with three coats) mdf panel
  • a still life step up including fresh tomatoes

Instructor Provided (for use in-class, and to share):

  • Kellie Newsome (teacher) will provide the following items: Shared use of a water mister, paper towels, a water basin, Crayola pencils, and sandpaper.

Student should bring:

  • Bruhes: Simply Simmons ½ flat wash, Simply Simmons #6 round brush, and Simply Simmons #3 flat
  • a small book clip light (for your table and to add some light to your still life if it is too dark, must be battery operated)
  • Prisma color Pencil set 48 or larger
