Laura Fraedrich

I am a ceramic and mixed media artist living in the Fresno area. I love making all different kinds of art; some of my favorites being art journaling, acrylic painting, printmaking, and collage. My first love, though, is ceramics. I have been making pottery for more than 12 years, and I currently work as a Creative Partner Consultant for Mayco, representing their brand of ceramic bisque and glazes.

My art contains bright, vibrant, and unusual color combinations. I am attracted to these colors like a moth is attracted to a flame, and it is very apparent in my artwork. Deep purples, yellow greens, rich reds, and warm oranges are like candy to my eyes. Naturally these are the first colors I reach for when creating my pieces. My work is often lighthearted, whimsical and humorous, and my goal is to put a smile on the face of anyone that views my pieces.

My passion is to apply the techniques I use in my mixed media artwork into my ceramic pieces. Many of these techniques are unique in the world of ceramics, and I am very excited to show everyone how much fun and rewarding this fabulous art form can be.

About the Artist:
Laura is the founder of The Peculiar Palette, a blog and website about mixed media art.
