Old portraits, in particular portraits from Latin America in the 18th and 19th century, fascinate me.  There is an interesting and somewhat strange formality to them.  It seemed logical for me to combine this historic style with mixed media and assemblage.  Needless to say, it adds a whole new feel to the image. So gather up your pictures and found doodads…it’s time to enter the 3rd dimension. The results will be strange and unexpected to say the least. Almost as if you could reach in and touch the subject…but be careful… perhaps it will reach out and touch you first.
