There is no substitute for using actual metal elements in a painting. This class is about incorporating the look of metals into abstract compositions. You will learn to prepare, and use, in an abstract painting, materials such as embossed aluminum foil, copper wire, combusted origami foils, mirror paper, metallic paints, and metal embellishments. You will learn about texture techniques, proper supports, how to make rust paper, and methods of attachment for metal elements. Expect to create one or more paintings.
Materials Fee: $20 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
Modeling compound, Gel medium
MDF supports in two sizes
Reusable stencils
Aluminum wire and foil
Copper metal and wire
