Create art that is poetic and provokes questions! Everyday objects become mysterious or surprising with the juxtaposition of a new a context. In this class students will learn my favorite mixed media techniques using brown paper, Xeroxes copies, stencils, aluminum foil, contact shelf paper transfers, and acrylic gels. Emphasis will be placed on the student creating personally significant content in their collage. Lectures will be light-hearted, memorable and filled with helpful information whether the student is a beginner or an accomplished master.
The day will begin with an introductory lecture and examples of completed work, and then students will practice demonstrated techniques. The afternoon begins with a short design lecture and demonstration, after which students will complete at least one finished, ready to hang painting.Materials Fee: $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes:

Paint: Fluid Acrylics (small bottle): Quinacridone Crimson, Turquoise Phthalo, Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold or other similar primaries
Brushes: 1” flat brush and small detail brush
Water container
Pencil and notebook
Scissors
Small jar of regular matte/gloss medium
6 or more Black and White Xerox copies of images you resonate with (birds, trees, houses, faces, etc.) Images with a lot of white in them work best. If you do not have a laser printer, have them printed at a copy store.
Painting surfaces: 1 half sheet (15x22) 140lb sheet of watercolor paper and a 10x10 or 12x12 canvas (bring more canvases if you want to create several images simultaneously
