Every jewelry maker should have an arsenal of techniques for making links and connections. In this class we’ll explore many different methods for link making, including wrapped links, S links, dream catcher links, fabric wrapped links, paddles, spring end crimps, scroll links and more. I’ll also show how to make perfect jump rings with plain wire and twisted wire, as well as how to make my favorite beautiful and strong clasp. Patina your copper or sterling wire ahead of class or I’ll show you how to apply a liver of sulfur patina, in class. This class will expand your cache of jewelry making skills and enable you to create beautiful connections to add to your pieces. I’ll have examples to show how to incorporate your new elements into jewelry creations and you’ll have the option, in class, to work on connecting your links to create a necklace or bracelet, as time allows.

Supply List:
14 gauge round copper wire, at least 1 foot
20 gauge round copper wire, at least 2 feet
Chain nose jewelry pliers

4 oz. ball peen hammer (Volcano Arts)
Small rubber dead blow hammer or rawhide mallet
Steel bench block
Bench pillow (or hand towel) for use under bench block
Fine grit foam sanding block
Measuring tape or ruler
Beads and pearls including some seed beads (see photos)
Battery operated work light (please make sure to bring this)

Optional:
Sterling or other wire if you prefer not to work in copper wire.
Hole punch pliers (any size)
