Over the past 40 years, Tom has trained hundreds of studio employees of Thomas Mann Design to use the jewelers saw, and in every case he was paying them to learn, so he wanted them to learn as fast as possible.  His Learn to Saw™ technique proves to be so effective that he is able to take a student completely unfamiliar with this tool, and have them sawing like a professional in an hour or two.  His teaching approach earned him a book with North Light Books in 2011 and two instructional DVDs which offer how-to knowledge about the jewelers saw never available before. In this class you will get the instruction first-hand and also walk away with not only a better understanding of a primary tool of metalsmithing but also a DVD to take you to the next level with tons of practice exercises and projects.

Materials Fee: $65 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
Brass sheet, plexi sheet, paper templates, saw blades, saw frame, DVD or book full of general instruction info and step by step projects to take home.

Instructor will provide:
All the tools and materials you’ll need will be provided, so just make sure to bring a notebook & pen. If you have your own saw or want to explore one of the new saw designs on the market these days, feel free to bring it with you!

Students should bring:
Notebook and pencil or pen

Optional:
If there is a particular saw blade or saw frame you would like instruction in using, feel free to bring it along for discussion with the class if time allows.
