Learn that 99% of the fun is letting the art take you somewhere new. Discover what shows up without the mind criticizing and controlling your process. We will crank up the music and work at high speed so you don’t have time to doubt yourself, then we will slow it down so your intuition can whisper hints of improvisation. I will guide you step by step though creative options in the first painting and then you will experience letting yourself go into your own “flow”. Students will gain new awareness of their inner critic and their playful creator! This is your opportunity to let go of perfectionism, to be brave, to challenge yourself, and to make up your own rules. Topics to be emphasized are: Gradation, repetition, variation, alternation, layering, gesture, limited palette, and the mind-set of spontaneity.

Materials Fee: $5 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
Music
Plastic room keys
Vine charcoal
Stencils
Oil pastels
Ink pencils
Some paint

Students should bring:
Your choice of acrylic paint (minimum of 3 colors plus black and white)
A 2” or larger synthetic brush
Palette
Water container
Pencil
Pen
Smock
Latex gloves
2 painting surfaces (as large as you are comfortable with, stretched canvases, or wood panels)
