This is a one day workshop painting angels. I will be demonstrating a couple of paintings using plaster layered wood panels as the substrate. I will be showing students how to layer plaster, sand, layer more plaster with stencils then painted to create rich and mysterious backgrounds. The different paintings will be collage angel as well as painting a close up portrait with a relief halo created with plaster and palette knives. In addition we will be working with my brand new Fractured Angels stencils I created for StencilGirl to create a more southwestern piece of art using my profile stencil and wings.

I will have a variety of angel images to share with the students that they can use for inspiration ranging from the religious/spiritual down to the angel that has been a bit fractured (which are my favorite). I will have a pinterest board available for students to look at for inspiration as well as they are collecting their images.

Materials Fee: $5 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
Venetian plaster and joint compound to share with the class
Re-inkers to share
A variety of angel images to use as inspiration in your paintings
Ephemera to share

Students should bring:
Acrylic paint- titanium white, quin. nickel azo gold, paynes gray, yellow ochre, quin crimson, ultramarine blue
Palette knives
Small paint knife as seen here
Fluid matte medium
Gesso
Wood cradled painting panels or wood to paint on (sizes could 16" x16" or 16" x 20")
Awl or any pointed needle tool to scratch into clay to do linework
Collage pages (look for figure, angel images to create an angel image
Charcoal pencils hb, 4b, 6b
Pencils-2b hb as well as stabile marks all black pencil
White chalk pastel
Brushes 1/4" angle brush seen here
Princeton short filbert bristle brush #8 here and #4 here
#1 or #0 pointed watercolor brush for detail
cheap utility brush for applying gesso and matte medium
