Folk Art Angel 9:00 - 4:30 Tuesday August 4th Sue Monaghan $130
Student Level: Beginner - Advanced
Type of Workshop: Process and Project
Prerequisite: None
Come have fun creating a folk art angel while learning the ins and outs of working with colored pencils. Students can choose to draw their own faces or work with one of the templates I provide. Students will be guided to create their own Angel with their own theme. Take home a cute, fun folk art Angel!
Instructor will provide:
Wood to paint on
Template for faces
I will also include the templates with my hand outs so that students can practice at home or even copy them for future use
Gel medium
Gesso
Students should bring:
Pencil and good eraser
Old book pages, scrapbook papers, maps, themed papers (if you want a Christmas Angel bring things that relate to that) tissue paper any other things you would like to collage with. You can also bring stamps, or stencils if you like.
Colored Pencils needed must be Prisma. Prisma pencils have a waxed finish on the faces that allow you to blend and move the color around. Light peach, Peach, Yellow Ochre, Bronze, Burnt Ochre, Pink, Warm gray, Bleu-vert pale, and WHITE. You need the white to blend with. (You can bring any other colors you want but these will be more than enough to create a beautiful face)
Charcoal Pencil
Black and White Gel pens (I personally use Signo um 153-they write on anything)
Craft Acrylics - White and any assortment of colors you might like to work with. I also recommend one tube of full bodied Payne’s Gray
Brushes - One or two small fine for detail work, 2-3 medium size flat, and one larger for washes
Small travel size wet wipes to remove paint
Small scissors
Heat gun if you have room in your luggage. This just helps speed up the drying.
