Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project
Prerequisite: None
This is a 6 hour workshop taught on 2 evenings.
Have you ever wanted to create a vintage looking instrument? Are you interested in applying ephemera in new and fascinating ways? Could you find joy in creating an object of art that is totally unique and functional at the same time? These are not trick questions, there exists a class to teach you how to do just that!
I have made available, from my private collection, a treasure trove of old cigar boxes and vintage labels. I will show you how to take these seemingly mundane pieces, and combine them with guitar parts to spawn an artistic, unique, and fully functional stringed instrument.
We begin with the all wood box, and assemble the parts I provide to manufacture a real playing instrument AND, more importantly, a fabulous work of art. Please bring along old newspaper clippings, vintage photographs and advertising, and anything else that tickles your fancy. We can even take beads or stones,or other small objects and incorporate them into your very own musical creation.
Bring an open mind, a willing spirit, and the desire to get busy making art, music and FUN!Materials Fee: $45 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
