Arsenic and Old Lace Book 9:00 -4:30 Monday
  Socrates $145

Student Level: All
levels welcome
Type of Workshop: Project
Prerequisite: None

During this 6-hour workshop, you will create a sewn lace book measuring approximately 7 x 9. You will experiment with various sewing and attaching techniques to bring your fabrics and laces together. Prior knowledge of sewing is not necessary. Many methods will require no sewing at all. You will learn how to plan a vintage lace page, how to transfer your choice images to fabric and to assemble your pages for an unusual spine for your book, using upholstery fabrics and ribbons. You will incorporate luscious laces and fabrics for a stunning layering effect. You will learn how to take apart broken pieces of jewelry to re-use them in your designs. We will also discuss the various methods of attachment.

The resulting project will be a lush lace book, full of beautiful fabrics, images and laces. This keepsake lace book was first created for a round robin 5 years ago. You will benefit from the techniques I developed for the round robin.
