Why do I do what I do?. Starting in 1993 I worked in the video game business for 9+ years as a character designer, 3D modeler and animator. After 9 years of people telling me what to create, when to create it and how big the chest on the female hero should be, my head imploded. It had become that monotonous and cliché. So I left that industry and didn’t create anything for 5 years. In 2006 my wife, who I met while attending the Art Institute of Seattle, dragged me to an Art Unraveled where I discovered PMC and metalwork. I have always loved the tangible feel of cool metal. I am a texture human. Rewind in history a bit. I started attending Renaissance Faires back in 1989. That’s when I started doing my own history research and learning it my way. I became very infatuated by the weaponry of the time, why each weapon was invented and what was counter invented to remove the advantage. I loved it so much that I started working for a weapons shop. While I had quite a bit of fun and learned mountains more about history than I ever could have in high school, I didn’t see this as a long term career. That’s around the time I escaped Southern California and moved to Seattle to go to art school. Fast forward to 2006, when I started making my own pendants at home and the merge happens. Those old weapons influences began to creep into the jewelry designs. Seven years later and I still love the feel of a newly finished silver blade in my hand. I have no awards. My jewelry has never been published. I love what I do and I want to share that with other people. I am also a certified PMC instructor for those who care about such things.
