Spinning Rings
Tuesday August 5th 9 - 12 $75 Kieu Pham Gray
Student Level: Intermediate
Type of Workshop: Project -students should be able to complete in class
Prerequisite: 18 or older
Create flare and movement with this class. Students will learn to shape and form a brass ring or copper ring and then lock an inner ring that will spin.
Materials fee of $24 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
Enough material for one copper and one brass ring (upgrade to a silver ring for an additional $17, must notify Kieu no later than July 10th) Sterling silver wire for one ring Copper or brass texture sheet for 2 rings Polishing materials
and use of:Torches, quenching bowls, fire bricks
Pickle and pickle pot
Solder
Dapping tools
Files
Steel ring mandrels
Wood forms (wedges)
Ring sizers
Bench block
Students should bring:Side cutters
Flat nose or parallel pliers
Divider (optional)
Steel ring mandrel (several will provided to share)
Magnifying glasses and Ott light* as needed
*Extension cord for Ott light
