    I love making bangles and these are gorgeous and addicting to make and wear, especially stacked. In this class, you’ll learn how to cut, file, form and hammer your way into bangle making. We’ll cover metal annealing and hardening, several different ways to rivet, and safe use of a small torch. The most exciting part of this class is the surprising way I’ll show you how add texture to your bangles that replicates the look of repousse. You’ll be able to use this technique for creating ornamental, raised designs on metal for lots of other projects. We’ll also cover other interesting ways to add texture as well as different ways to make head pins and several different wire wrapping techniques.

    Please make sure to patina your wire before coming to class.

Materials fee of $15 payable to Instructor at class time and includes use of tools and supplies:
  • Metal strip
  • Sealer
  • Dremel and drill bits
  • 0000 steel wool
  • Torch
  • Butane
  • Electric bead reamer
  • Dremel and drill bits
  • Metal bracelet mandrel
  • Riveting materials

    Students should bring:
  • Chain nose jewelry pliers
  • Round nose jewelry pliers
  • Flush cutters for wire (cheap, craft store type)
  • Chasing hammer
  • Small rubber dead blow hammer or rawhide mallet
  • Steel bench block
  • Bench pillow (or hand towel) for use under bench block
  • Two hole metal punch
  • Metal shears
  • Metal files (#0 and or #2)
  • Mini bench vise
  • 1/16th inch eyelets, short
  • Awl
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Fine grit foam sanding block
  • Beads: See photos-top drilled briolettes, center drilled beads in various sizes, charms, religious medals, etc
  • Wire: Bring dead soft round sterling wire, copper, brass or bronze…or a mix of metal wire in 22 and/or 24 gauge, depending on what will fit through the holes in your beads.
  • 6 inches, 14 gauge dead soft round sterling, or 14 gauge copper

  • Metal scribe
  • Small jewelers square
  • Extra wire and beads
  • Metal bracelet mandrel
  • Extra metal strip, 3/16th and/or ½ inch, 24 gauge copper, brass or nickel
  • Ear plugs

  • Beading mat or work surface
