Objects of Devotion
Thursday evening 6:30 - 9:30 and Friday 9 - 4:30 $220 Laurie Mika
Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project
Prerequisite: None
This is a 9 hour workshop.
Icons are generally thought of as flat devotional panels, however, in this class we will use a 2 x 4 piece of lumber as our base and will build a sculptural three-dimensional art piece employing polymer clay as a building block. Personal expression is encouraged in each phase of creating these secular objects. A myriad of mixed media clay techniques will be explored including rubber stamping, painting, layering clay, collage, transfers, metal leaf and embedding objects into clay. The end result is a beautiful, medieval looking object of devotion to be hung on the wall.Materials supplied by Instructor for use during workshop:
