Learn a skill set combination to create fine silver metal frames for polymer clay backfills. We’ll focus on the economical torch firing method for metal clay, the creation of accents such as faux cold connections and sentiment tags. In addition, students will learn and make a millefiori mosaic cane from polymer clay using an extruding gun. We’ll create a veneer from cane slices to make a seamless “mosaic” background for use in filling the finished metal frame. Students will have the option of giving their finished piece a glass like effect using resin. The instructor will also cover the tools that work best for texturing and a variety of suspension methods (including the creation of crescent bails).
