Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Project oriented class in which students learn techniques to finish one necklace and be encouraged to expand on techniques and methods taught.
Prerequisite: None
Where I live, in Texas, everything is big and Texas gals live by the motto “Go big or go home.” In this class I’ll show ya’ll how to design an amazing, super-sized statement piece. Almost anyone can wear a large piece of jewelry; the key is good design and appropriate proportion which we’ll discuss in class. I’ll show you how to work with those gorgeous, blingy vintage rhinestone pieces, that everyone loves. Bring your biggest stones, beads, fossils, pearls and other objects. I’ll teach you how to make my big, beautiful spoke links, as well as a half-spoke that can be used as an element in your piece or as a focal, itself. We’ll also make a to-die-for stacked, button-style clasp. Cutting, filing, shaping, texturing, wire wrapping and design are all a part of this class. You’ll walk away with a bold, stunning necklace that any Texan would admire.
