Facing Frida

Tuesday July 29th 9 - 4:30 $130
  Cory Celaya

Student Level:
Intermediate
Type of Workshop: Process though some students may finish the project
Prerequisite: None

Channel your vision of Frida Kahlo and you don't even have to know how to draw.

You will interpret your vision of Frida using a contour drawing furnished by the instructor. Emphasis on the use of 5 design elements and why they are so important in creating art. You will learn how to “moxify” trash papers, sandwich wrap papers, and how to make crinkle paper with heat and stamps. You will mindfully combine the papers, collage them onto a 12x12 canvas and learn finishing and presentation. Note: If you are flying and are concerned about transporting a 12 x 12 canvas, you may work on an 8 x10 canvas, or a canvas board. Please let me know so I can plan accordingly.

Kit fee of $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
  • 12x12 canvas
  • photo copy of a contour drawing
  • photo copy of color images
  • a variety of papers including papers for altering
  • a mechanical pencil
