Do you love bright whimsical shapes and colors? Can you make a drip, paste some paper, play with stencils and have fun? This class will give you an insider look at Chris Cozen’s signature painting style and help you understand that building a garden can be a joyful thing. You will work wild and crazy on the beginning layers and then learn to “tend” the surface just as you would weed and prune a garden to cultivate the best of the crop. We will be working on both mounted paper and canvas board using acrylics and collage, stenciling and glazing techniques. Chris will help you understand the dynamics of composition as it relates to your work, assist you with mixing colors, and get you on your way. Golden Artist Color samples will be provided along with all paints and products.

Students should bring:

2 8x10 Canson art boards and 2 8x10 or 11x14 canvas boards

If students prefer they may email the instructor to purchase these boards (3 weeks advance notice) for a fee of $12 for the 4 required boards.

In addition please bring a small zip lock back of patterned papers of your choice

All other materials will be provided by the instructor.
