In this class we will create a human figure out of wire and clay. You will learn the easiest techniques in soldering, tinning, bending and shaping wire. We will use paper clay to create the head on our figure. Your imagination will be set lose to create an art piece unique to only you.

Learn how to make templates and calculate measurements for future projects. There is no limit to how you will be able to use your new skills learned in this class and besides it fun.

Kit Fee of $10 payable to Instructor at class time includes:

• a nifty little bag with all the pre cut 14 and 16 gauge wire to make your sculpture
• tie wire
• tin foil
• sand paper
• templates
• instruction pamphlet.

Students should bring:

• 100 watt soldering iron (I use a Weller)
• solder
• flux gel with a small brush
• sal ammoniac block
• 8 oz Creative Paperclay
• scotch bright pad
• heavy duty wire cutters
• flat nose and round nose pliers
• ruler
• clay tools if you have them - if not a bone folder or an awl is fine. I use my fingers most of the time to smooth the clay out
• bench vise or third hand to help hold wire as you solder
• Extension cord and power strip if you are not flying and have them (please)
• small box of wet wipes
• apron

Optional items:

• if you would like to put wings on your sculpture some translucent paper looks best allowing a bit of light to pass through
• a possible base to place your sculpture on, such as a wood box, a flat piece of wood ½” thick, almost anything you can drill into
• stand for your soldering iron

Note: Bring your sack lunch if you want to stay in the room to play and ask questions, I will be eating in the room.
