Type of Workshop: Process and Project
Learn to work small with a big impact. In this workshop we will create mixed media paintings on a small scale using 4x4 and 6x6 cradled wood panels. Even though this class is project based, the emphasis will be on technique. You will learn a series of approaches to make layered and textured surfaces, which can be applied to an endless number of projects. This workshop will use text as the main foreground component of each painting, so that you will be expressing yourself in both words and visual design. We will all start out with the same basic materials and each of you will end up with several artwork pieces of art all your own.
Kit fee of $1o payable to Instructor at class time includes:
- 2 cradled wood panels – 4x4 and 6x6
- Assorted mixed media materials
- Instructor will provide assorted mixed media materials and supplies
Students should bring:
- white gesso
- fluid acrylics (about 8 colors)
- acrylic glazing liquid (I prefer Golden)
- paint brushes (assorted sizes)
- water container
- paint palette
- brayer
- assorted rubber/clear stamps (including full letter set)
- ink pads in assorted colors
- favorite pens and markers
- assorted rub-ons (including many letters)
- low tech texture tools (corrugated cardboard, bubble wrap, etc)
