Friday eve 6:00 - 9:00 $75
  Kathy Cano-Murillo

Student Level:
Beginner
Type of Workshop: Project

Learn how to take a portrait and convert it into a stencil that can used for future art projects. Students will start with an 8x10 portrait and learn how to transfer it into a black and white image that will then be cut out with a craft knife and made into a sturdy stencil. Kathy will teach students how to “see” where to cut – negative and positive space. There will also be paints and substrates for students to test out their stencils.

Kit fee of $20 payable to Instrucor at class time includes:

  • Designs
  • papers
  • fabric
  • markers
  • craft knive
  • cutting mats
  • paints
  • markers
  • pencil
  • tape
  • Students will receive a free signed copy of one of Kathy’s novels.

Students should bring:

  • Several 8x10 portraits printed on lightweight copier paper. Bring more than one design to give more variety in practice. The bigger and cleaner the design, the better!
