Have you been clamoring to learn a new technique? Spend the day creating a mixed media collage with paints and paper that has the appearance of encaustic without the mess and heat involved! It’s already hot enough in Phoenix, why raise the temperature anymore? Using painted and collaged layers combined with decorative papers and ephemera you will float elements between layers of a faux encaustic concoction that you will learn to prepare in two formulas: Bleached or Unbleached. You will have the opportunity to work with Golden Artist Colors, Inc. paints and products. Throughout the workshop You are encouraged to work on more than one piece at a time to maximize class time. Free product samples will be provided for all whom attend, compliments of Golden Artist Colors, Inc.

Students should bring:

  • Baggie filled with decorative paper scraps, including tissue papers, lightweight ephemera, and copies of photos, vintage images, or personal drawings
  • small fine spray water bottle
  • a set of chopsticks
  • 2 (two) Pre-gessoed hard-board panel or cradleboard no larger than 11”x14” (These are available through dickblick.com or pay $10 for each board to the instructor. You must email chriscozen@aol.com three weeks in advance to reserve board(s).)
