Double Hinge Bracelet

If you avoid making hinges because they are just too difficult, you might think making a bracelet with two hinges would be double trouble. But I'll teach you a hinge-making technique that will allow you to make failproof hinges that align perfectly every time...no trouble at all. In this class you will learn a technique that simplifies hinge-making while fabricating a double-hinged bracelet. You will also learn to make beautiful counter-sunk rivets, how to construct a clasp for the bracelet and how to add a bezel set cabochon.
Soldering and sawing experience recommended
Materials fee of $20 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
- 22g and 24g copper sheet
- fine silver bezel wire
- medium and hard silver solder and flu
- flux brushes
- torches and fuel
- handouts
- assorted tools for student use including flexshafts and accessories
- liver of sulfur patina
- soldering pad
- Solder Pick
- tweezers
- sandpaper
- brass rivets
- turquoise cabochon (or similar)
- copper tubing
- copper wire
Students should bring:
- You may bring your own cabochon if you want. It should less than 1" x 1"
- Eye Protection & Ear Protection
- Bench Pin
- Bench block or Anvil
- Round nose, flat nose and chain nose pliers
- Metal shears
- Rawhide mallet
- Ruler or calipers
- Riveting hammer or small ball-peen hammer
- Texturing or planishing hammer
- Jeweler's saw and #3/0 or #4/0 saw blades
- Needle file set (round, flat, triangle, etc.)
- Hand files #2 and #4 half-round
Optional:
- Dremel or other rotary tool with grinding/polishing attachments
- Work light and extension cord
- Bracelet mandrel
