Copper Journal Tuesday 9:00 - 4:30 and $215 Thomas Ashman Wednesday eve 6:00 - 9:00
Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Process and Project
This beautiful all-metal journal is sure to be treasured for generations, especially when filled with your original artwork or writing. In this class, students will create a large (6" x 8" x 2") metal journal with a double-wide version of my all metal binding. Found objects and a rich patina make the cover of this book extra special. The cover and spine of this book is completely fabricated "from scratch" by the students. Add some chain and a few beads and charms, or bring your own personal sparkly, dangly objects to make this book uniquely your own. Techniques taught include cutting, torching, and alteration of metal with chemical patinas and a torch. The binding can be adapted to make books in many different sizes and using other materials.
Kit fee of $3o payable to Instructor at class time includes:
- copper & brass sheet metal
- copper plumber's tape
- wire
- welding rods
- hardwar
