Some call it collecting, accumulating, or gathering, some call it obsession. Creative people love to surround themselves and draw inspiration from our “stash” of treasures. Inspiration for this book comes from a collection of vintage anatomical drawings and broken doll parts.

Layers of paint and collage are the base for this hand constructed book. You will create mixed media layered paper for the cover and pages of the book, and learn several techniques, which include collage, stenciling, stamping and printing. We will create part of our “collection” with paper, metal tape and Sculpey charms.

Learn some Sculpey basics to create your own beads, charms, doll parts. You will learn how to make molds so that you can create your own collection of Sculpey parts that can be used in your book. Finally, you will hand sew 9 signatures on to the cover and I will demonstrate beading techniques and tips. The book form will be completed in class and then you can continue adding to your collection at your pleasure.
