One of Tom’s artist heroes, Alexander (Sandy) Calder is internationally known for his monumental sculptures, and mobiles. But he also made jewelry!… and cooking implements for his country kitchens in the US and in France. Tom’s been making spoons and ladles in the Calder tradition for many years. Sandy is definitely one of Tom's heroes. In this workshop we will use forging & folding techniques on aluminum sheet to create the Calder Spoon.

Tom will also be demoing and giving students the opportunity to make Calderesque wire jewelry.

Advanced sawing skills necessary.

Kit fee of $15 payable to Instructor at class time includes:

  • 1/16" aluminum sheet, 4" x 6"
  • Calder spoon pattern
  • 10 copper rivets
