Type of Workshop: Process and Project

Bricologe :   construction (as of a sculpture or a structure of ideas) achieved by using whatever comes to hand.

What do we as mixed media artist have at hand usually in excess on or around our work tables?

Fabulous scraps and bits of amazing stuff! This class will take those bits and pieces and turn them into a rich textural Bricologe. Through loose fun paint and collage exercises we will create a palette of objects rich in texture and color. Then seeing those pieces as color and shape appose to objects we will delve into composition. Because the elements are loose you can arrange and rearrange until pleasing composition is found. I like to look at this as creating a three dimensional abstract painting. The piece you take home will also be a sampler of sorts to reference for technique ideas.

This is a project-based class with tons of room for exploration and variation. I really encourage everyone to go where their muse is leading them. I will be spending lots of one on one time consulting and supporting your creative process. We will be learning lots of fun easy techniques that produce quick, dramatic results. You’ll find that these newly learned skills can be applied to many different kinds of mixed media work.
