April Bower has been working with patinas since the mid 90’s first in coloring copper fountain sculptures then developing her own technique for wall art she calls “Patina Paintings”; painting with chemicals on thin copper sheet that is then mounted on wood. She is a full time working artist with a background as a fine jeweler and metalsmithing ( BFA ASU/ ’74) , has owned her own art business and is currently represented in 5 galleries in the Southwest with both contemporary jewelry and Patina Paintings. Bower has taught many classes in metalsmithing, & lost wax casting, as well as workshops in forming/forging and foldforming. She is a patient instructor stressing innovation & experimentation.
