Three Dancing Angels Monday 9 - 4:30 $145 Daniel Carrel
Student Level: All
Type of Workshop: Process and Project
Finding, exploring and documenting your creative birthright identity through mixed media. (For all levels of experience)
Would you like to visually dance once again as you did when you were four years old? Throughout history powerful artists have secretly wished to go back to that time of wonder. Many were able to let go of the predictable adult world for a short time and in doing so they found their true unique artistic identity. In turn their art helped all of us in our ongoing search for personal identity. We are all searching in life for the true names of our talents, personalities and spiritual quests. Arts function is to help us find our three names. I call them our three dancing angels. Life and Art is about learning to dance with your angels!
The class will help bring the visual music back to your life and awaken the wise child in you. Whether you are a professional artist or a complete beginner, the class will help you peal the layers back that have held you captive in this adult body. New and time honored art techniques will be introduced that will free the creative artist in you. That artist wants to desperately be free again. As a teacher I will hold your hand. I don’t teach you the dance…I help you to recognize the dance that has always been there. You will astound yourself. We will start out the quest with being a dance partner with nature. All visual art ideas whether abstract or realistic come from nature. Nature is the teacher and healer.
You will create a visual poem identity portrait on a large hanging roll up tapestry (approximately 24”x 60” or 5”diameter X 24” rolled up.) (Provided) The tapestry will be constructed from a variety of materials chosen for texture, transparency and appropriate visual qualities that support inspiration, joy, and play. The 2D/ 3D multi media image can touch base with painting, drawing, collage and or most art techniques used throughout time. You will choose the most effective and fun techniques from, a wide variety of abstract / realistic visual prompts and exercises. Inspiration and new techniques come from accidents and playfulness.
I have used these visual programs for the last 36 years to awaken the creative child artist in my students. Many of the visual, verbal and musical/ movement exercise are as old as man and the blueprint for creativity. We will decode these ancient lost techniques, with new cutting edge modern materials and approaches. The function of the exercises is historically tailored to help the individual joyfully find their three names while illuminating new directions in their art. Remember it is your birthright to be an artist; while discovering your identity you will help others find theirs.
