The 10 of Hearts (Class and Swap) Wednesday 6:30 - 9:30 $70 Jane Eileen
Student Level: Beginner/Intermediate, but fun for all!
Type of Workshop: Project - Students should complete a book during workshop

Whether you have ever participated in a swap before or not, this should be fabulous fun. Unlike mail swaps, you won't have to pay postage 2 ways, and wait weeks to see what treasures you get back, all the while wondering if all your hard work is safe while it is dancing with bigger and badder packages and the mail carriers' machines. Each participant will have a little bit of homework, not only so that we will have something to swap, but so that we can get this baby done in just a three hour time frame. The homework will be to make just 10 hearts, all alike or different, that fit into an area no larger than 2.5 inches wides and 3.25 inches tall. Please follow this size guideline carefully so hearts will fit 4.5 x 5 inch pages that are going to get additional embellishment in class. Your hearts can be made of a photo, transferred image, paper, book page, plastic, transparency, fabric, metal tape, transfer tape, metal, etc. anything less than 1/4 inch thick. Each heart is required to have at least one embellishment such as, but not limited to, buttons sewn on, a small word attached, embroidery or other stitching, paint splatter, etc.If they have a backing of any type, the whole piece to be swapped must still fit in the 2.5 X 3.25 inch requirement. Be creative, and have fun! Email Jane if you want to know whether your idea is acceptable, want another suggestion, or have questions. janeeileen@hotmail.com As part of the class, Jane is willing to coach you through the homework phase of the project. She loves that kind of stuff. Examples of hearts meeting minimum requirements are included in the photos.During class, using a numbering system, each participant will receive 9 new traded hearts to use along with one of her/his own. The total of 10 will be used as part of the embellishment on the fabric pages. Pages will then be adorned and bound into something like the sample shown in the photographs. Jane will even be making extra hearts in case anyone has a last minute problem that keeps them from making it to class, so everyone will have enough.
