Painted Tote Book for Doodlers, Dreamers, Designers or "Drawers" Sunday 6:30 - 9:30 $70 Jane Eileen
Student Level: Beginner - but fun for all!
Type of Workshop: Project - Students can complete 2 of these books during classtime
|
The completed size of these books, when closed, will be approximately 4 X 6". Whether you are looking for a small book to tote around with you when you are on the go and need a place to doodle, dream, design, or draw, want to start or work small, or are just looking for a quick, fun, relaxing class, this one covers all that.
You will begin by playing with a variety of paints, stencils, and mark makers to cover your pieces of canvas which will become your covers. Then you will look through an overgrown collection of doodads and found objects, mostly metal, to embellish the front of your journal. These may be glued or hand sewn on the front. Hidden pockets will be created, so you can tote around a few writing tools, a glue pen, loose papers or whatever makes your heart happy, that go with your book. Then you will look through piles and piles of a large assortment of papers to fill your book: graph paper, Braille paper, plain paper, lined paper, scrapbook paper, maps, envelopes, accountant's paper, printer paper with holes, etc. Using a very simple binding process, the pages will be put into the covers.
These make great little gifts for that little someone special, and luckily you will already have two when you leave class!
Kit Fee of $5 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
- canvas
- paints
- metal and other embellishments
- waxed linen or waxed polyester
- needles
- papers for pages
- paint brushes
- handout and booklet of things to doodle/draw in your books
Instructor will provide for use during workshop:
- mark makers and stencils
- sanitized toothbrushes
- pipettes
- 2 heat guns
- water tubs and paint plates
- paper cutters
- metal edge rulers
- Cropodile
- 5 sewing machines to share (This part will be a 2 minute job, tops. If a sewing machine kinda scares you, Jane can do your sewing for the demo or just because she likes the sound of her own machine. No problem!)
Students should bring:
- apron or clothes that love paint
Optional:
If and only if you have room in your art tote or suitcase, AND you already own these items, you may bring along a heat gun or hair dryer, Cropodile hole punch, or paper trimmer and metal edge ruler. Otherwise, don't even think about it. If you have special paper that you wish to use in your book, bring it along. Only if you prefer to glue down embellishments rather than sew them: a very small container of heavy duty adhesive of your choice such as Crafter's Pick: the Ultimate glue.
