I love going to the big paper and ephemera shows and one of the things I have seen there from time to time are the vintage sample books. I think the first one I saw was entire book of men’s clothing with samples of the fabric on one side and pictures of the suit or coat on the other. Since then I have kept looking and found entire books of lace, tartans and etc. These books are very dear and since I cannot own one of them, decided to make my own version in a smaller size. This little book is going to be 4 x 6 inches, with 10 signatures, mine has 10 dresses or outfits and the other pages contain sewing sample of fabric of embellishments like buttons, snaps or tiny pictures. If you love fabric and little dresses, come join me in a day of dressmaking play! And we will learn some new fabric surface techniques! Workshop will give each student a good start on this book; finishing with added details would be done after class.
