Come explore encaustic wax while creating wax castings that highlight this age-old technique in a contemporary way. By starting with the basics, students will learn to work with the unique properties of wax to create castings and textures that are extremely dimensional. We will continue to build on these techniques learning to layer materials, alter the wax, create castings and add found objects like fibers, nature or small treasures.
Materials Fee of $20 payable to Instructor at class time includes:
- encaustic wax for use in class
- two part mold material
- a variety of elements including papers
- transfers
- colors
- additives
- charms
- crystals
- other tools and supplies.
Supplies Provided by Instructor for use in workshop :
- Access to my great collection of molds
- all tools and misc supplies needed in class.
Students should bring:
- Scissors
Optional:
- fun things to mold
- a variety of elements and paper you would like to work with or add to pieces
