Andy Warhol is remembered largely for repeated and magnified images, many done using a silk-screen. Inspired by his work, we will make a trio of claybord paintings using hand cut stencils instead of silk-screen. Suitable for any level painter, this class will consider an alternative approach to Claybord, using it like scratchboard by starting with a black painted background. We will add molding paste for texture and will exploit the carve-able feature of the substrate in order to reveal white areas in our work. By using stencils in combination with our own drawing and painting, we have the opportunity to employ repetition while making original art with increased texture and depth.
If you think you can’t make realistic objects, have no fear. I will provide a variety of templates that make the process achievable and you won't be limited to flowers as your subject. The finished pieces may be mounted together for a stunning wall piece. I will provide mounting easy mounting instructions.Kit fee of $15 payable to Instructor at class time includes: E-Z cut stencil material, all paints & a variety of markers & carving tools for use during class.
