You open a small cherished box. The scent of your grandmother lingers so impossibly close as light catches the old rhinestone brooch. Tucked away with such tender memories, so long between rediscovery, there is nothing left to do but forge a permanent home for such treasures of the heart.

With a beautiful vintage glass heart already cut, shaped and waiting for your arrival our day begins. Together we will learn about copper foils, applications and special decorative treatments for adornment. Once prepared, we will unravel the mysteries of soldering and add a decorative edge to our keepsake.

Finally we will add a flurry of jump rings to hold a host of lovely jewelry easily removable for wearing.

Our day will cover tools, techniques and understanding of the soldering process. We will use patinas and polish to lavish and age our hearts. Once finished we will secure a favorite crystal, rhinestone or pearl necklace and the memory keeper's heart waits only to adorn your wall or window.

Kit fee of $15 payable to Instructor at class time includes: Your kit will include a beautiful hand cut and shaped Victorian glass heart, solder, flux brush, and copper foil. Also in your kit will be jump rings and hemostats for jump ring application.

Supplies provided by Instructor for use in class: A 12" X 12" work board for each student to solder on. Flux, flux remover, flux cups, sal ammoniac, patina, glass cleaner, lint free cleaning clothes, sponges, and polish for your hearts.

Tool List :
• Weller 100 soldering iron and heavy metal stand, IF you already have them.

  For those that need to borrow soldering equipment, I will have these tools available on a limited basis, please email to reserve.

  Supply List:
• Please bring a favorite crystal, rhinestone or pearl necklace that will be used to hang your heart. And of course….your grandmother's old rhinestone brooches, earrings, and bracelets, left intact so they will be wearable on any given day.

  I will offer a special discount for anyone who would like to purchase a Weller 100 soldering iron, heavy metal soldering stand and sal ammoniac bar, to be picked up before start of class. Please email ahead at least two weeks before class begins.
